Price varies primarily with opening dimensions (square footage), panel count, glass specification, sill profile, and finish selection. FlowDoors is bottom-supported. The panels ride on a track at floor level, which transfers panel weight down into the sub-floor rather than up into the header. Most competing folding doors are top-hung — the panels hang from a header-mounted track, suspending the full glass weight from above and placing significant structural load on the header. Buyers often discover mid-project that their existing header needs to be replaced or reinforced to carry a top-hung system. With FlowDoors, the existing header is often adequate as-is, which removes cost, time, and construction mess from the job. There is no fixed maximum — FlowDoors uses a single bottom-supported track system (no dual-track configurations), and opening width is limited only by what your structural header can safely span. In practice the header is the constraint: a structural engineer or contractor will size the beam and supports to carry the roof load above the opening. We routinely coordinate with your structural team at no extra cost so the header and the door are specified together. See our structural header guide for what to plan for.

A standard 3- to 4-panel system typically takes one day with a two-person crew. Larger panel counts or projects that require structural modification to the header or sub-floor may take two to three days. Your project coordinator will provide a site-specific timeline.

A short buyer's checklist: (1) Is the system top-hung or bottom-supported — and what header reinforcement will my opening need? (2) How does the frame manage heat, expansion, and thermal movement? (3) How many hinges and moving parts are in each panel, and what is the real-world failure history? (4) Is the hardware concealed or exposed, and what does the sight line look like when the door is closed? (5) What is the realistic maintenance routine, especially for coastal or high-sun installs?
